what defines friendship?

endless days and nights spent together, and time apart leading to disconsolation?
a day of laughter and splendor and fond memories, then years spent seperate?

a reassuring voice in times of despair, and to turn to only in times of despair?
an ever-present smile, so that there never will be times of sorrow?

a willingness to stand for one's beliefs and principles, to give an alternate view?
an iron-clad faith in another, in spite of differences?
