its a nice, rainy, early monday morning.
weekend was generally delightful.
on sat, had lunch wif colleague sk then visited mba fair; caught a musical rendition of kuo pao kun's lao jiu at the drama centre, new nat'l library (incidentally the 1st time i was actually in the library proper since it opened just a while back this year); drinks at harry's orchard and then thumper was a bit of a let-down though. these places are off my list!
sun started with a mad dash to kranji mrt for a visit to sungei buloh with a's colleagues (despite a series of forced wake-up calls). her friend - the organiser - happened to be a volunteer guide for the place and his running commentary made the whole 3 hour+ visit really really enjoyable. it brought to mind what feynman said about how a scientist could enjoy a level of beauty that's not readily available to a non-scientist: "i can appreciate the beauty of a flower. at the same time i see much more about the flower... i can imagine the complicated actions inside which also have a beauty...the inner structure...the processes..." after that, went to support bb's church feast day at amk, then off to my niece's 1 month man3 yue4 celebration. k came along and am sure had fun, cos we were waylaid by my funky aunt who dragged a few of us youngsters out to a friend's pub in serangoon. i'd never been there before but it's got this familiar, comfortable feeling (although it wasn't too comfortable otherwise). that being said, i figured i hit the low point in my drinking career when my cousins scuppered off and i was left alone with said aunt, and we ended up playing chai1 quan2 to finish half a jug of tiger beer (not even heineken!!!) with her aka-chi buddies in bemused attendance.
mind completely clogged now, as evidenced by my recent scheduling of 2 events on the same time slot this week. time to clear the clutter...
