we often tell ourselves that pain is only a perception, a temporary moment of suffering, transient in nature. happiness is the natural state of affairs we should all aim for, aspire for, and do indeed live for.
but the reality is, pain is not forever, but pain lasts long. and the depths of pain, no matter how short, outweigh the heights of happiness we may feel, almost always.
