My internship's finally over, and as you all know by now, I end it with both a sigh of relief and some sadness. I woke up incredibly late on the last official day of my internship (Friday) and reached the office about 45 minutes in the final presentation that was happening. Altogether it lasted close to 6 hours (yes, 6!), and the palpable feelings of tiredness (after 2 weeks of 18 hour days), expectancy (last day of course) and slight anxiety (judging by senior managers) was in the air. Thankfully most everything went off well, and everyone managed to get back to the hotel safe and sound by late afternoon. The fact that they all missed a 7pm beer appointment in the hotel bar was testament to the amount of effort they put in throughout the course - they were simply too tired! Before they left though, I got some prezzies from my colleagues - a sack of rice (!!) from everyone as a gag gift (my reputation knows no bounds), a cap from my HR manager, a jacket (which I had a minor role in designing) and a Montblanc pen from my managers. One of my managers insisted I bring it around with me all the time - so that I can impress whichever girl I'm asking the number for by whipping it out of my pocket with a piece of paper. I told him I use my handphone for that...

We had dinner at Sistina at Jalan Merah Saga (Holland V) in the late evening - I had the restaurant booked. Lots of pics. We went down to Bar None for 4+ hours of mad dancing - a colleague of mine had booked a table for about 20 people and closer to 40 turned up! I wonder how we managed to get everyone pass the staff at the front desk. There were tonnes of tears by some of my colleagues at the end of it all - this was the last time everyone will be together as a group after all, and some of them were re-posting to other locations after a substantial period of time in the country. Supper at Boon Tong Kee at River Valley after that, and one of my Australian colleagues and I burst out into song to the delight of the others (it was too late and we were too crazy to be embarassed).

And that was it. Went back into the office on Monday to say my final goodbyes (I had earlier sent a mail to everyone on Friday) and clear my desk of the few remaining pieces of paper. Returned my security pass. Everyone was a bit on the emotional side - an after-effect of Friday - except my mentor and manager. All I got from them was a 'ok, bye' before they switched back to work-mode. As a follow-up, my mentor said to me, "we figured we'll be seeing you soon anyway??" She's right of course, they're quite a part of me now.
