Insensitive slackers
Saw an article in the Straits Times two days ago about how people using this site over in China couldn't access their personal pages - apparently the government had issued a blanket no-access order or something after some dissident posted anti-government stuff on the pages. Hah! Makes it more imperative for me to post now while I have access yah? -_*

My gripe for this week - okay, it's been a major gripe in my life, but especially this week - people who are so insensitive that I could poke them with a hot skewer and they wouldn't know AND who never follow through with what they promise to do. I'll start with the latter.

A caveat here first. I know that I don't follow through with lots of things that I promise to do but I think, at least, that those said things don't have too large a negative impact on the people around me. Now back to my griping.

I've been doing work, right? So I've basically finished off the stuff for my department. So boss asks me, would I be willing to help the other department with theirs? Same stuff roughly, I've got the experience etc. So I say okay. Guy in charge at other department asks me to brief the people he has and I do, they've promised to help him do the groundwork - the super long tedious stuff - and I do the analysis. Fine I say, if that's the way he wants. So these three people - to cut a long story short - a silly girl, an idiot infatuated with the silly girl, and the honors grad (the protaganist for this piece) go on while I take whatever they've done and proceed to clean up the odds and ends and standardise everything. They really just go out and do data collection, ZERO analysis as they don't bother to delete unwanted entries, double entries, weird personal notations that I have to go figure out myself...

the best of course, is the said protagonist.. who dumps off two of files to the other two jokers, and so I got upset that the whole process is slowed down. Later on we have a casual chat about other stuff and I thought she was okay.

Two days back though, she throws the last one she was doing to me, and from her message, which was vague, I now admit, seemed to imply it was done. So I happily went off standardising everything that was given... until I hit hers again yesterday and found out that it was HALF-COMPLETE. So I mail back and she doesn't respond.. instead she responds to my thank you message which I sent out the first time she sent the file and basically tells me "you don't get it, I was saying thanks for doing my stuff, you'll figure that out after you stop bawling". -_- I've really got nothing to say... except that her email address is SO christian. What can I say??

God help me.
