Listening to: Tai Zheng Xiao's Xiang Ni Xiang De Hao Gu Ji

It's been a nice, lazy, rainy day, stayed at home all morning and afternoon. Totally wasted it wallowing on the bed and flopping myself onto any nearby chair.

Ah, sweet life!

Have been wondering about the mating ritual. Yes, my thoughts invariably turn to this subject again. Ah, but wait! Now I can relate it to something I've learnt in class - social cognition. Well... as a social behaviour, the associated cognitions involve person(s), situation and the interaction between the two. My question is, can we break out of this cycle?
The pattern is as follows: Boy meets girl, noy goes out with girl, boy thinks he likes girl, boy decides to go and tell her as such, and... he'll almost always end up in either of 2 categories - with her, or ever after without her. Even if they do remain friends, something changes. Same thing happens when a guy goes along with the.. wrong girl... and in the meantime, Miss Right leaves his life... if not forever and ever.. then, at least till it's unlikely that they'll ever be together again. To cut a long story short, is this arrangement is the best we can come out with after 3000 years of recorded history? Are we doomed to repeat this cycle, a cycle strewn with the wrecks of half-fulfilled relationships, of awkwardness.. of unwillingness to give second chances, and of all the associated emotional baggage that comes bundled along...?

Ah, cruel fate, cruel to make the gods weep.

Ordinary boy, ordinary world
